Ravne Maze: Entering the Womb of the Earth Mother
Best viewed at 1080p
On August 9, 2011 independent researcher Nenad Djurdjević and his research assistant Amir Suša entered the new tunnel sections discovered in November 2010.
This extraordinary video testimony made with a small waterproof HD camera shows great part of the tunnel labyrinth submerged by water, its massive drywalls several meters in length, and an underground lake at the end of the passageway.
Surprisingly, instead of evoking a sense of claustrophoby the place promotes a sense of well being in the body, mind and spirit. It is possible to breathe easy inside the tunnel section while darkness and silence provide a sense of protection, a sensation that can be compared and related to that of a child inside the maternal womb.
The idea related to the maternal womb, however, is embedded in religious beliefs of Old European cultures.
Neolithic cultures of Old Europe focused on the abundance of Nature and Mother Earth, and the procreation of the human community. According to Marija Gimbutas in "Language of the Goddess", symbols for watery energies, symbolic images related to water, and mythical creatures considered to be the source of water and life are dominant.
It was believed that one goes to the sea and enters the womb-waters of Mother Earth, to wash away the stains or injuries of the past, in order to be reborn anew, while burials were often modeled after the female's uterus so that the buried dead could feel like they were in the womb of their Earth Mother.
Water is the primordial element that underlies creation myths in almost every ancient culture. Egyptian, Assyro- Babylonian and Hindu myths tell us that all human beings, gods and man, arose from the primordial ocean. Rivers, streams, springs and wells were perceived by ancient cultures as the dwelling place of supernatural beings. In some cases streams or wells were oracular and it was firmly believed that water was inhabited by spirits, and that these spirits could act as an intermediate between the living and the spiritual world.
In Old Europe the primeval element of the universe was conceived as water, and the mythical water snake was considered the vehicle of an energy which has its source in water. It is said that her home is beyond these waters, and the way goes through "meandrous labyrinths", and that she rules over the life-giving force of water, while her eyes stare from the very "center of the world" - a mythical sphere with the primordial water stream in the center.
The Ravne tunnel labyrinth is not only one of the wonders of the world, but also a sacred site of epic proportion, a mega powernode of the Ascension. Visoko's mysterious underworld reflects the Mother womb of mystery, creation, and regeneration. It is the womb of the Earth/ Snake Goddess.
